Japan Association of Corporate Directors (JACD, Chairman: Yoshihiko Miyauchi, Senior Chairman, Orix Corporation), the independent organization for the board and directors, dedicated to promote excellence in governance and directorship, has announced its 1st Corporate Governance of the Year Prize winners.
The Corporate Governance of the Year (Committee Chairman: Atsushi Saito, Chairman of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. Japan, Former CEO of Japan Exchange Group) examined companies which had achieved and maintained long term profitability by implementing good corporate governance with the ultimate goal of revitalizing the Japanese economy.
It is noteworthy that JACD commences the Corporate Governance of the year prize from this year.
Awarding ceremony has held on February 2nd, 2016 in Imperial Hotel Tokyo.
According to Committee Chairman Atsushi Saito:
"The productivity and the profitability of the Japanese companies have been declining in the past 2 decades. I believe that the better and stronger Japanese companies going forward will be assured by introducing the corporate governance and by achieving the efficiency of the management and its capital. And it will surely lead to strengthen the Japanese economy. At the selection of the Corporate Governance of the Year Prize, I examined carefully in the manner of not only formal requirements but also the corporate's business results and the way of thinking of the corporate managements as well."
