On October 12, Japan Association of Corporate Directors (Chairman: Kazuhiko Tomiyama),
an association of executives and professionals dedicated to promoting corporate governance,
released its "Standard Corporate Governance Code Addressing Sexual Assault on Minors", which consists of five basic principles.
The Code was developed based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (2011)
and the Roadmap for the Next Decade of Business and Human Rights (2021).
The Code focuses on how companies can fulfill their responsibility to respect the human rights of minors.
And the Code also states that the link between sustainability management and respect for human rights should be strengthened.
It is expected that Japanese companies will continue to meet the global standard of corporate responsibility for respecting human rights.
